Mixshow changes starting this week

For nearly a year now, I’ve been doing a live, two-hour mixshow on iDanceRadio.fm. While I enjoy doing it live, it takes a valuable weekend night away from me. It’s also largely prevented me from syndicating the show to other outlets.

Beginning this Friday, October 2nd, the DJ Wesley Friday Night House Party will be trimmed back to one hour (a customary length for mixshows), and I’ll be pre-recording it sometime during the week. I’m sure that most listeners to iDanceRadio.fm will hardly notice the change, but I wanted to give everyone a head’s-up.

Thanks for listening, and I hope you continue to catch the new, shortened show each Friday night, starting at the same time—10 Eastern, 7 Pacific.

Some upcoming events

There are many different types of DJ’ing, and I find myself doing a lot of different kinds of DJ’ing. In the next few weeks, I’ll be showing-up in some unusual places around Denver.

Next week, for the second year in a row, I’ll be providing the music for a private customer event at Murray Motors, Denver’s premier BMW and Mercedes dealerships. I love working with the Murray team, and I’m hoping this year that the weather cooperates better than last.

In June, I’ll be working a pair of benefits.

The first is June 6th, with Concerts for Kids. The “Denver Day of Rock” is CFK’s big annual fundraising event, and the proceeds allow them to help fund a number of children’s health and educational organizations. The main event, at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium, features a concert by the Flobots. Ahead of the Flobots’ concert, I’ll be providing the music with an 80’s theme, and along the way, the impersonators and dancers from Denver’s Borrillo Entertainment will be doing an incredible dance routine to the sounds of Madonna and Michael Jackson.

Also in June, I’ll be working the annual Janet’s Camp benefit event for YMCA of Denver. Each year, local celeb Janet Elway hosts this great day camp for grown-ups to raise funds that allow YMCA to open its summer camps to kids that might otherwise not have the opportunity to participate. So in addition to the great camp food, games and fun for the attendees, there’ll be dancing and great music from yours truly. I’m really looking forward to this one!

I have some additional events in the pipeline, so it’s going to be a busy summer for DJ Wesley. As always, I’ll keep everyone posted here.

New Year’s Eve party in Second Life

As many of you know, I actually starting my DJ’ing career inside the virtual online world known as Second Life. While I’ve branched well out of that at this point, there’s a tradition I started a couple of years ago that I’ll be continuing this year.

Back in 2006, I did my first DJ Wesley’s New Year’s Eve Bash, where I had the crazy idea of leveraging Second Life’s international reach and audience to ring-in the new year live across Europe, and across the Americas. I did it again in 2007, and almost unbelievably, it’s time to do it again in 2008 to ring-in 2009.

This year’s event is a little different; I’ll be doing it at The Pavilion Nightclub, a virtual club sponsored by the very real life CAPP Records. But what hasn’t change is that I’ll be counting down to 2009 in Central Europe, and again in the GMT time zone. I’ll get a couple of hours’ break, and then will crank-up the party once again at 11:00 PM in the Atlantic time zone (that’s one zone farther east than Eastern time). I’ll countdown the new year in each time zone all the way to Pacific.

While it’s a very (very!) long party for me, I really enjoy doing it. This year, we’ll be simulcasting the entire party—all of it—on iDanceRadio.fm. That way, people outside of Second Life can join in the fun too (even if some of the Second Life-specific stuff may sound a little strange to them!).

If you have no idea what Second Life is all about, you might want to check it out and join us on New Year’s Eve. All the details are on their web site at secondlife.com. You can get an account absolutely free, and see what all the buzz is about.

Once you’re joined, or if you already have a Second Life membership, just come to the club on New Year’s Eve night, in any (or all!) of the time zones I mentioned above, and join the fun. Introducing the DJ Wesley Friday Night House Party

Starting tonight (Friday, October 17, 2008), I’ll be spinning a new mixshow on iDanceRadio.fm. We’re calling it The DJ Wesley Friday Night House Party, and that’s pretty much what it is… The best in progressive, electro, and some of your favorite mainstream club remixes.

Every Friday, I’ll be mixing live starting at 10:00 PM Eastern (7:00 PM Pacific), initially for two hours, although we might be expanding it to three fairly quickly. I want to emphasize that the show will be live, warts and all. (I’ll prerecord only if I’ll be on vacation, have a gig elsewhere, etc.) So for better or worse, you get to hear it as it’s happening.

Tonight’s show is a bit of a dry-run, so it’s entirely possible that some technical glitch will keep the show from going on as planned, but I’m not too worried. (Worst case, we’ll try again next week.)

The show is sponsored by CAPP Records, and I’m sure I’ll be featuring a few of the best CAPP has to offer.

Show notice: Tracks (Denver), Thursday, March 20

Hey everyone! Once again, I’ll be spinning at Tracks here in Denver ahead of headliner DJ Brian Howe (of XM Satellite Radio, among others) on Thursday, March 20th. As usual, doors open at 9:00 PM, and I would recommend getting there early. The first 50 people in the door get in for free!

I’m pleased to let everyone know that I’ll be spinning again at Tracks, one of Denver’s hottest dance clubs, on Thursday night. My good friend DJ Brian Howe (known for, among other things, his shows on XM Satellite Radio) just got residency at Tracks, and will be spinning there every other Thursday. I’ll do my usual house warm-up set this Thursday, 11/15, starting at 9:00 PM, and Brian will take over later with his awesome, high-energy mash-up style.

If you happen to be in the Denver, Colorado area, I hope you can come out.

I’m pleased to let everyone know that I’ll be spinning at Tracks, one of Denver’s hottest dance clubs, on Thursday night. I still don’t have an exact start time at this point. DJ Brian Howe, well known club jock and a regular on XM Satellite Radio, is the headline DJ Thursday, and he’s invited me to spin with him.

Since I get back to Denver Thursday afternoon, I won’t have a lot of time to pull together the details last-minute, but if I have the opportunity, I’ll edit this posting with more details and a start time.
